Get ready to jump to lightspeed — a brand-new adventure is coming to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! First announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the Millennium Falcon is about to get some VIP passengers — Din Djarin (a.k.a. The Mandalorian) and Grogu — and now we’ve got more details about what’s in store when this exciting new mission opens at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.

Straight from the Source

During The Future of World-Building at Disney panel at SXSW, The Mandalorian creator and Disney Legend Jon Favreau took the stage alongside Imagineers Leslie Evans and Asa Kalama to give us the latest scoop on this epic update to Smugglers Run.

“It’s something that can only be done at Disney,” Kalama said. “We’ve all worked together to come up with a new mission for Smugglers Run that plays into this narrative.”

And the timing couldn’t be better — both the new Mando and Grogu mission and The Mandalorian and Grogu movie will launch on May 22, 2026. That’s right — you can watch the movie and then live out your own adventure on the same day!

What’s the Mission?

While details are still under wraps (would it really be Star Wars without some mystery?), Kalama did tease that the Imagineers worked closely with The Mandalorian production team to capture scenes for the attraction right on the movie set. That means you might just spot some iconic Star Wars locations along the way. A trip to Cloud City, perhaps?

Familiar Faces and New Droids

But Mando and Grogu aren’t the only ones making their way to Batuu. If you’ve spotted those playful BDX droids wandering around Disneyland, you’re in luck — they’re heading to Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris soon. And these little guys are even making their big-screen debut in The Mandalorian and Grogu movie.

And speaking of droids — they’re going to need a mechanic after all this action. Luckily, Imagineers already have the perfect expert lined up: Auto, an Anzellan droid specialist you might remember from The Rise of Skywalker and the latest season of The Mandalorian. Just be careful not to get on his bad side — he’s got a reputation for being a little… cranky.

The Countdown Begins

Mark your calendars — May 22, 2026, is shaping up to be a massive day for Star Wars fans. Whether you’re piloting the Falcon or just along for the ride, this is one mission you won’t want to miss.

See you in the cockpit — this is the way.
