As the 2025 season approaches, Kings Island is gearing up for an exciting year filled with major ride enhancements and all-new attractions. From a massive track replacement on the legendary Beast to the addition of Ohio’s first dual-racing water coaster, there’s plenty for thrill-seekers and families to look forward to when the park opens its gates on April 19.
The Beast: Smoother and Stronger Than Ever
Since 1979, The Beast has reigned as the world’s longest wooden roller coaster, drawing fans from all over the world. But even legends need a little upkeep. This offseason, crews have been hard at work replacing over 1,600 feet of track—more than 20% of the coaster’s total length.

The project focuses on the section just before the second lift hill, through the brake shed, and into the mid-course tunnel. These improvements aim to enhance the ride experience while preserving The Beast’s signature intensity. Fans can expect a smoother ride while still feeling the untamed, high-speed rush that has made this coaster an icon for over four decades.
Soak City Expansion: RiverRacers and Splash River Junction
If summer fun is more your style, Kings Island’s Soak City Water Park is getting a major upgrade with the debut of RiverRacers and Splash River Junction on May 24.
- RiverRacers – Get ready for high-speed aquatic competition on Ohio’s first and only dual-racing water coaster. Riders will race side by side, experiencing thrilling drops, high-speed turns, and splashing finales.
- Splash River Junction – This brand-new kids’ water play area will feature seven new slides and Bluegill Lagoon, a fun activity pool complete with a water tower that’s sprung a few “intentional” leaks—perfect for cooling off on hot summer days.
Construction Updates: Progress is Moving Fast!
Despite a snowy January, work has been moving quickly at Soak City. Crews have poured foundations, installed steel supports, and recently received fiberglass slide panels for RiverRacers and the new kids’ slides. The assembly process is now underway, with the ride structure beginning to take shape.
