Get ready for a baking battle like no other. Super Mega Cakes, a brand-new six-episode culinary showdown, premieres Monday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Food Network—and hits Max the very next day. At the center of the sugar-fueled storm is legendary cake artist and fan-favorite Duff Goldman, known to many from Ace of Cakes and countless Food Network hits. This time, however, he’s juggling more than ever before.
In Super Mega Cakes, Team Duff takes on a truly herculean task—competing against six elite teams of cake artists simultaneously. Over the course of four days, each team is assigned a different jaw-dropping theme, from Superman and Architectural Wonders to Classic Cartoons and Under the Sea. Each episode highlights a head-to-head competition, with intricate, lifelike cakes that defy expectations and blur the line between sculpture and dessert.
These aren’t your typical cakes. We’re talking interactive displays, cakes that float, glow, and even feature built-in holograms and cameras. “These life-sized sweet creations are unlike anything anyone has ever seen,” said Betsy Ayala, Head of Content, Food, Warner Bros. Discovery. “Duff and these incredible cake artists pushed culinary limits in every episode, and we cannot wait for our viewers to see each masterpiece.”
Throughout the series, acclaimed pastry chefs Sherry Yard and Amaury Guichon serve as primary judges, joined weekly by celebrity guest judges including Beck Bennett, Eric Bauza, Drew Scott, Jacques Torres, Paul de Gelder, and Jack Osbourne. In the season finale airing July 21, a live audience of 50 guests will taste and vote on the finalist creations, crowning one ultimate Super Mega Cakes champion.
The premiere episode introduces the competing teams and launches with a bang—literally. Duff and his longtime creative partner Geof Manthorne of Charm City Cakes go head-to-head with a renowned British cake artist in a Superman-themed challenge. Their mission? Build cakes that not only wow with flavor and design but also include an animated feature worthy of the Man of Steel.
Upcoming episodes promise even more high-stakes spectacle, including an Under the Sea-themed build that must float, and an Alien Invasion challenge that demands futuristic lighting effects. Every cake is a fusion of imagination, precision, and sheer baking wizardry.
Fans can join the excitement on social media using #SuperMegaCakes to unlock behind-the-scenes footage, baking tutorials, recipe content, and exclusive Q&As with Duff himself. Full updates and episode guides will also be available at FoodNetwork.com.
As a longtime fan of Duff Goldman’s cake artistry, watching his evolution from Ace of Cakes to this mega-scale creative gauntlet is nothing short of inspiring. If Super Mega Cakes delivers on the spectacle teased so far, it’s sure to become a sweet staple for summer viewing.
