Episode 3 of Super Mega Cakes, titled “Architectural Wonders,” challenges the teams to think big—literally. The task this time: create cakes featuring jaw-dropping architectural detail on the outside and inside. With guest judge Drew Scott from Property Brothers joining Amaury Guichon and Sherry Yard, the pressure to impress is at an all-time high.

Duff Goldman and his team take inspiration from the elegance of the Opera House, creating a refined and beautifully detailed structure. But the real surprise is inside: a fully realized theater scene that appears to come to life when revealed. The intricate layers and immersive interior added a storytelling element that felt theatrical in more ways than one. It was a clever and captivating approach that played to Duff’s love for drama and design.

Across the kitchen, Timbo Sullivan, with teammates Sarah Ono Jones and Sarah Myers, delivers one of the boldest creations yet—Atlantis, perched atop a colossal sea turtle. The exterior is nothing short of breathtaking, with the turtle’s sculpted shell and underwater flourishes stealing the spotlight. But it’s what’s inside that truly stuns: vibrant, artistic interior work that mirrors the grandeur of the mythical city. The cake is massive, magical, and packed with personality.

Both teams brought their A-game, making it a near-impossible call for the judges. Duff’s Opera House was polished and creative, while Timbo’s Atlantis Turtle cake was epic in both scale and execution. In a challenge all about structure, imagination, and detail, this episode proved that cake architecture can be just as powerful as the real thing.
