It’s about time! Peacock finally confirmed the premiere date for Epic Ride: The Story of Universal Theme Parks, and it feels like a victory for theme park fans. Originally teased for this past summer, the 3-part docuseries is now set to debut on Monday, September 29. The trailer just dropped, and trust me—it looks like it’s going to be worth every second of the wait.

So, what’s this series all about? At its core, Epic Ride is telling two massive stories: the legendary history of Universal theme parks and films, and the behind-the-scenes race to bring Universal Epic Universe to life. For fans like me who have been following the construction updates, this is the deep dive we’ve been craving.

The access looks incredible. Engineers, designers, choreographers, performers—this isn’t just marketing gloss. We’re getting the real story of what it takes to build a brand-new theme park in record time. That’s something we almost never get to see, and the idea of watching Epic Universe come together through the eyes of the people making it happen has me counting the days.

And then there’s the lineup of interviews. Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Jon M. Chu, Bryce Dallas Howard, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel… the list goes on. Pair those Hollywood icons with Universal executives like Donna Langley and the creative teams shaping the park itself, and you’ve got a powerhouse mix of insight and inspiration.

As a fan, I love when studios pull back the curtain. Disney+ has done this with Imagineering, but seeing Universal step forward with their own epic story feels overdue. Universal has such a unique legacy—from Jaws and E.T. to Jurassic Park and Harry Potter—and now Epic Universe is positioned as the crown jewel of everything they’ve built.

On top of all that, Peacock already has a companion special available: Inside the Worlds of Epic Universe, hosted by Joe Manganiello. That one-hour special tours the portals of the new park, but Epic Ride promises to go deeper, showing us the legacy, the innovation, and the countdown to opening day.

For me, this feels like the perfect lead-up to Epic Universe’s grand debut. It’s the kind of docuseries you watch and then immediately want to book your trip. September 29 cannot get here fast enough—because this time, the ride really is epic.
