It’s the end of the month and coaster news is rolling in hot! From Texas-sized thrills to classic Florida roars making a comeback, this week packs a punch. I’m especially excited about Kumba roaring back to life—time to plan a Busch Gardens trip to finally get that credit. Let’s dive right in!

Six Flags Over Texas just went all-in with their newest coaster announcement, and it’s HUGE. They’re calling it Tormenta Rampaging Run, a wild single-rail coaster designed to twist, dive, and whip you around at insane speeds. Everything’s bigger in Texas, and this coaster is no exception—longer track, higher thrills, and theming that embraces storm-chasing chaos. This is exactly the kind of bold move Six Flags needed to shake things up heading into 2026.

The roar is back at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay! After months of speculation, fans spotted Kumba testing earlier this month, and now it’s officially open again. This B&M classic has been thrilling riders since 1993 with its forceful inversions and unforgettable growl of steel. With Scorpion now gone and Stanley Falls retired, it’s good to see Kumba still holding down the fort. If Loch Ness Monster in Williamsburg can get its major glow-up, I’m still holding out hope that someday Kumba will get a well-deserved refurbishment of its own.

Over at LEGOLAND, we finally got confirmation that both LEGOLAND Florida and LEGOLAND California will be getting brand-new indoor coasters called Galacticoaster! These rides are being designed as family-friendly thrill machines with a cosmic theme. They’ll be the perfect next step for young thrill-seekers ready to graduate from smaller LEGO rides into a coaster that packs some serious fun—while still being accessible enough for parents to hop on too.

Officials have provided a clearer picture of the tragedy that occurred on Stardust Racers at Universal’s Epic Universe earlier this month. On Sept. 17, 32-year-old Kevin Zavala died after riding the new coaster. Universal Orlando’s president Karen Irwin told employees that internal findings show the ride “functioned as intended” and “equipment was intact” throughout the ride.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed those findings in its own statement, noting that investigators monitored the same tests and reviewed the same data. Both agencies said the investigation is ongoing.
An autopsy by the Orange and Osceola chief medical examiner determined Zavala’s cause of death was multiple blunt impact injuries and ruled it an accident, with notes of a pre-existing spinal injury. Attorney Ben Crump, representing Zavala’s family, said they will be pursuing maintenance logs, inspection records, and video footage to better understand what happened and to seek accountability. For now, Universal confirmed that Stardust Racers will remain closed while a full review is conducted with the ride’s manufacturer.

IAAPA Expo Europe wrapped up with a showcase of what’s next in the industry, and the future looks wild. From cutting-edge coaster trains to immersive walkthrough concepts, this year’s expo was packed with innovation. Manufacturers teased new partnerships with major parks across Europe and Asia, while VR and AR-based attractions continue to be hot topics. And of course, some parks used the platform to drop teasers for upcoming 2026 announcements—so buckle up, because next year is already shaping up to be a massive one.

Fall is in the air, and so are the layers! This shot of riders bundled up on Colossus at Thorpe Park gave me a good laugh—it almost looks like wearable airbags. Big thanks to tpsbw for capturing this perfect “coaster in chilly weather” vibe.
This Gerstlauer launch coaster is a sleeper hit. Anubis launches riders from 0 to 55 mph in just over 2 seconds, climbing straight up before flipping into an intense heartline roll at the top. It’s compact, punchy, and filled with airtime moments that keep fans coming back. That sneaky launch never fails to surprise riders!
ICYMI, I dropped my EPCOT trip report last week! It was a day filled with rides, food, and plenty of relaxing strolls around World Showcase. Highly recommend visiting if you haven’t—EPCOT is in such a great phase right now with new attractions blending beautifully into its classic charm.
Crea8yourmagic dropped an all-new Disney Ambience video at the Beak and Barrel, Magic Kingdom’s spirited new pirate tavern. It’s the perfect spot to soak in swashbuckling vibes, grab a drink, and feel like you’re part of the Pirates of the Caribbean story. Definitely worth checking out for fans of immersive dining experiences.
It’s been a quieter week behind the scenes thanks to my weird work schedule, but the Halloween section will be updated by next Spot Talk along with Roll Credit: September Edition. Stay safe, ride smart, and keep chasing those thrills!
