When the past crashes into the present

By the time we reach “EV3L1N,” the road has gotten personal. This episode digs deeper into John Doe’s past while keeping the action and insanity roaring. It’s a turning point that forces John to face pieces of himself he can’t quite remember—and the more he uncovers, the more dangerous the journey becomes.

John’s Memories Surface

For most of the season, John has been defined by his wit, charm, and his role as the “milkman.” But Episode 8 peels back the layers, showing that there’s more to him than a delivery driver with no memory. Hints of who he used to be start to surface, and it complicates the way he sees his mission—and himself. The show balances these flashbacks and revelations with tense action, giving us answers while still leaving plenty of questions.

Quiet’s Resolve

Quiet continues to be John’s anchor, but her story shines here too. Her hardened exterior hides a depth of pain and resilience, and we start to see why she’s chosen this path. Together, she and John have gone from rivals to partners, and this episode shows just how much they now need each other to survive.

Sweet Tooth’s Madness Continues

Even as John and Quiet’s personal journeys unfold, Sweet Tooth keeps the chaos alive. His scenes once again walk that line between hilarious and horrifying, a mix that’s uniquely Twisted Metal. For me, it always comes back to those memories of picking Sweet Tooth’s ice cream truck in the games. He was always my go-to, and the show nails exactly why—he’s unpredictable, larger-than-life, and unforgettable.

First Impressions

“EV3L1N” is one of those episodes that balances story and spectacle really well. It slows down enough to let us connect with John on a deeper level, but it never forgets that this is Twisted Metal—so the violence, chaos, and black comedy are still front and center. It feels like a setup for something much bigger in the next two episodes.

Personal Reaction

I really liked how this one gave John more depth. Up until now, he’s been the funny, fast-talking driver, but Episode 8 shows us the cracks in that armor. Seeing him wrestle with his past made me care about him more.

And of course, Sweet Tooth—still my favorite, still stealing scenes. Every time he’s on screen, it feels like the show dials up the insanity. It’s exactly the kind of chaos I remember from the games, and it makes me nostalgic every single time.

Episode 8 feels like the gears are shifting toward the endgame. With John’s past resurfacing and the world closing in, the road ahead is about to get deadlier—and I can’t wait to see what kind of carnage Episode 9 brings.
