Six Flags Magic Mountain is giving its family area a major refresh, and this time it is rooted in classic cartoon storytelling. Debuting in summer 2026, Looney Tunes Land will transform the current kids area into a fully realized land inspired by the Chuck Jones era of Looney Tunes. Designed around exploration, nostalgia, and character-driven environments, the new land aims to create a welcoming space for families while honoring characters that have been part of Six Flags history for decades.

The Heart of Looney Tunes Land

At the center of the new land is a cozy park-like hub where Bugs Bunny welcomes guests into his world. This central space is designed as a gathering point, setting the tone for the entire land and connecting guests to the three surrounding themed areas. It is meant to feel relaxed and inviting, encouraging families to explore at their own pace rather than rush from ride to ride.

TAZ-mania

TAZ-mania drops guests into a colorful tropical environment that shows clear signs of the Tasmanian Devil’s chaotic influence. The Whistlestop Train will be rethemed as Taz’s Tasmanian Train Tours, sending families aboard the Tasmanian Express for a lively journey through the island’s wilderness. Adding to the adventure is Taz’s Exploration Trail, which replaces the former Magic Flyer and Tweety’s Escape locations. This walk-through experience invites guests on a treasure hunt along the Tasmania Trail, with new seating and turf creating a more comfortable space to relax between adventures.

Road Runner Ridge

Inspired by the deserts of New Mexico, Road Runner Ridge centers on Wile E. Coyote’s endless pursuit of the Road Runner. The area will feature striking rockwork, desert terrain, and cleverly hidden ACME traps scattered throughout the landscape. One of the most recognizable elements, the painted tunnel, will bring a classic cartoon visual to life and serve as a standout photo spot for guests exploring this part of the land.

Bugs Bunny Play Park

Bugs Bunny Play Park replaces Speedy Gonzalez Hot Rods and Pepe Le Pew’s Tea Party with an emphasis on free play and exploration. The Merrie Melodies Merrie-Go-Round will be refurbished to match the refreshed land, complete with a vibrant new color scheme and marquee. Wascal’s restaurant will also receive a thematic update, including refreshed scenic buildings and new picnic tables that give the area the feel of a community park. A fun detail for younger guests is the addition of Granny’s House, featuring an explorable interior with 2D elements that bring the cartoon world to life.

Camp Duck Amuck

In Camp Duck Amuck, guests head into a High Sierra-inspired setting where Daffy Duck is firmly in charge. Taz’s Trucking Company will be transformed into Daffy’s Forest Four-Wheelers, inviting junior rangers to join Daffy on patrol in their own jeeps. Along the trail, humorous character scenes and educational signage will highlight conservation and outdoor safety. The Looney Tunes Lodge will also be refreshed to resemble a rustic mountain cabin, complete with new wood-look foam flooring designed with exaggerated cartoon-style textures.

Storytelling and Immersion

Each area of Looney Tunes Land will feature its own distinct color palette, landscaping, signage, railings, and graphics. Even the hardscaping will include character footprints in the concrete, reinforcing the idea that guests are walking through a living cartoon world. This approach to design suggests a strong focus on immersive storytelling rather than simple retheming.

Roller Coaster Delay and What It Means

While Looney Tunes Land gives families a lot to look forward to in 2026, thrill seekers will need a bit more patience. Six Flags Magic Mountain has confirmed that its highly anticipated new roller coaster has been pushed back, with an updated opening timeline now set for 2027. While delays are never ideal, this shift appears to give the park breathing room to focus on delivering a polished family experience with Looney Tunes Land while ensuring the coaster arrives fully realized rather than rushed. For a park already known as the Thrill Capital of the World, one extra year may be a fair trade for a stronger long-term addition.

Construction Timeline and Big Picture

The transformation into Looney Tunes Land will begin in early January 2026, following the Holiday in the Park seasonal event. Construction will be completed in three phases, allowing portions of the area to remain accessible during the process. The land’s opening will coincide with Six Flags Magic Mountain’s 55th anniversary and follows the major refurbishment of Hurricane Harbor Los Angeles in 2025, marking another step in a broader multi-year investment strategy for the park.
