Universal Destinations & Experiences is giving families something big to look forward to. Coming in 2026, Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas will be the first-ever theme park built specifically for families with young children—and now, the themed lands have officially been revealed.
Designed from the ground up for little adventurers, the park will feature immersive areas inspired by beloved characters from DreamWorks, Illumination, and Nickelodeon, offering kids the chance to laugh, explore, and play alongside their favorite friends. Think of it as a theme park where imagination rules and every corner is packed with wonder and color.
“We really wanted to create a place just for kids and their families to play together,” said Sarah Gibbon, VP & Executive Producer at Universal Creative. “At every step, we thought about how we could bring curiosity, laughter, and joy into real-life experiences.”
Here’s a look at the magical worlds guests will get to explore:
Shrek’s Swamp
It’s big, green, and full of heart. Kids can splash and play in Shrek’s swamp-themed playground, where the fun is as bold as an ogre-sized belly laugh. Expect rides, play areas, and plenty of nods to the beloved films, all wrapped in themes of friendship, family, and love.
Bikini Bottom with SpongeBob & Friends
Over in Nickelodeon’s Bikini Bottom, guests will join SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward for the ultimate underwater adventure. Whether you’re earning a boating license or just chilling on a bubbly beach, it’s all about nautical nonsense and laughs under the sea.
Minions Mayhem
In this wild Illumination land, Minions are running amok during what’s supposed to be a relaxing vacation. With Purple Minions causing chaos and Yellow Minions scrambling to fix things, kids can dive into action-packed water fun or enjoy the show from dry land.
Jurassic World Adventure
For dinosaur lovers, the Jurassic World area promises awe and excitement. Kids will come face-to-face with dino discoveries in an experience that’s thrilling but tailored just for them. It’s hands-on, interactive, and packed with prehistoric wonder.
Trolls Music Festival
Bright colors, big beats, and glitter galore—Trolls fans can sing and dance their way through a musical adventure alongside Poppy, Branch, and the rest of the gang. It’s a full-blown music fest designed to bring people together in joyful harmony.
Puss in Boots’ Kitty Fiesta
Step into a charming kitty adoption fair hosted by Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, and Perrito. This area will be filled with rides, games, fun food, and even a sensory garden where little ones can take a cat nap and recharge.
Gabby’s Dollhouse Experience
In the heart of the park’s central hub, guests will meet Gabby from DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse in an immersive retail experience. Surrounding play areas and shady lawns will offer spots to relax and recharge in between all the fun.

Beyond the themed lands, families will find a 300-room hotel on-site, colorfully themed to extend the park experience into every part of their stay. The hotel will also serve as the main entrance to the resort, making it easy to jump into the action each day.
Dan Cuffe, Vice President and General Manager of the resort, summed it up perfectly: “At Universal Kids Resort, children will have the opportunity to play, sing, dance and discover with some of their favorite characters. Families will find plenty of areas to rest, enjoy themed food and beverages, and shop for character-inspired souvenirs.”
