You might be wondering—what is Roll Credit? It’s my monthly recap of all the TV series and movies I’ve watched recently, along with my thoughts, favorites, and a quick preview of what’s coming to theaters or streaming platforms. I’ve also added a few standouts from June worth mentioning. Got a recommendation? I’m always open to adding more titles to my growing watchlist. Now… let’s roll the credits!
Sinners was easily one of the strongest films I saw this month. Everything from the cast to the execution worked beautifully. It brought something refreshingly different that we don’t often get from most films today.
Another pleasant surprise was The Minecraft Movie. While quirky and full of clichés, it worked—thanks in large part to Jack Black and Jason Momoa. The buddy-comedy tone made it a fun watch. I also enjoyed About My Father, led by the always-great Robert DeNiro. He brings charm to every role.
On the thriller side, Drop delivered a suspenseful ride centered around social media and a string of potential murders. Not perfect, but engaging enough to keep me glued to the screen. In a similar dark corner of cinema, Creep (2004) was bizarre yet compelling—definitely one to check out if you enjoy horror that leans into psychological discomfort.
However, not every film landed for me. The Mouse Trap didn’t deliver much of anything—it felt poorly written and sluggish. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey had more going for it visually, but its story fell flat. Still, I’m intrigued enough to watch the sequel soon and will share a follow-up article comparing both.

After years of putting it off, I finally dove into Game of Thrones: Season 1. And wow—what a ride! The political drama, world-building, and character arcs were top notch. I kept waiting for dragons… and sure enough, we get a glimpse in the final moments. My only gripe? A few too many filler scenes, especially the sex-heavy ones that added little to the plot. Still, I’m excited to begin Season 2 soon.
I also powered through all three seasons of Squid Game. This series truly lives up to the hype. It’s not for the faint of heart—intense, disturbing, and full of moral gray areas—but it’s brilliantly done. I’ll be posting full episode recaps for Seasons 2 and 3 next month, so stay tuned!
If you’re into reality competitions like me, Super Mega Cakes was a standout. Duff Goldman facing off against six different bakers in simultaneous challenges over just four days? Insane. The creativity, the pressure, the cake disasters—it was a sugary thrill from start to finish.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is high on my radar. While the original was a bit long, its immersive visuals made it unforgettable. The trailer for Fire and Ash promises more of that breathtaking world-building that James Cameron is known for.
Also coming soon is The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, which looks like fun for all ages. And I’m especially excited about the animated reboot of The Cat in the Hat. This version seems to stay closer to Dr. Seuss’s book and away from the infamous live-action take.
Another film grabbing my attention is Tron: Ares. It’s been over a decade since Tron: Legacy, and this long-awaited sequel looks like it’s ready to push the digital frontier even further. The visuals are sleek, the tone is darker, and Jared Leto seems to be diving deep into the Grid with a bold new twist. I’m hoping it builds on the legacy while expanding the Tron universe in exciting ways.
Here’s a look at what’s next on my viewing list. Will I get to them all? That depends on life—but they’re in the queue.
