20th Century Studios has just dropped the first trailer for Predator: Badlands, the next chapter in the long-running sci-fi action saga. Directed by Prey filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, this installment shifts the action to a distant, desolate planet, where survival is not only brutal—but far from guaranteed. The film opens exclusively in theaters on November 7, with immersive experiences available in IMAX, Dolby Cinema, RealD 3D, Cinemark XD, 4DX, ScreenX, and other premium formats.
The trailer introduces a striking new premise: a young, disgraced Predator exiled from his clan must navigate the unforgiving terrain of a remote planet. In an unexpected twist for the franchise, he forms a fragile bond with a human survivor, Thia, played by Elle Fanning. Thia is a resourceful fighter trapped in this alien landscape, and the trailer hints at a tense, emotional journey as the two unlikely allies search for the ultimate enemy—a foe powerful enough to redeem or destroy them both.
Also starring Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, the film promises both visceral action and an emotional core, as themes of exile, survival, and redemption take center stage. The Predator series has long been known for its explosive set pieces and primal intensity, but Badlands appears to push the franchise into new thematic territory—quite literally out of the jungle and into the stars.
Trachtenberg’s return after 2022’s Prey is a promising sign for longtime fans. That film was widely praised for breathing new life into the franchise by stripping it down and focusing on grounded, character-driven storytelling. Now, Badlands looks to build on that momentum, scaling up the scope while still focusing on personal stakes.
The film is produced by a seasoned team, including John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor, who have all helped shepherd the Predator legacy across multiple eras.
With high-octane visuals, an intriguing interspecies alliance, and the promise of all-new Predator lore, Predator: Badlands is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious entries yet. And if the trailer is any indication, this hunt is far from over—it’s just evolved.
Predator: Badlands hits theaters November 7, 2025.
