When you think theme park expansion in Europe, you might imagine a new area at Disneyland Paris or a coaster update at Europa-Park. But Romania just stepped onto the global stage with something far bolder: the unveiling of Dracula Land, a sprawling entertainment, retail, and tech complex fueled by more than €1 billion in private investment. And based on everything released so far, this project isn’t just a theme park — it’s a full-scale cultural, business, and lifestyle ecosystem.

Announced on December 4, 2025, Dracula Land aims to redefine what a modern destination resort can be. Located only 20 minutes from Bucharest and 15 minutes from Otopeni Airport, the 160-hectare development promises to blend theme park thrills with digital innovation, tourism, shopping, hospitality, and even esports. The vision is massive, and the ambition is unmistakable.

A park built on story, scale, and spectacle

Founder Dragoș Dobrescu calls Dracula Land a national project — one that transforms Romania’s most iconic cultural symbol into a modern legend. The theme park itself spans more than 780,000 square meters and features six immersive lands with over 40 major attractions. Details on ride hardware haven’t been released yet, but early descriptions suggest an experience that leans into narrative depth, gothic atmosphere, and high-end design.

Beyond the park gates, the sheer variety of offerings is surprising even by global destination standards. The development includes:

  • A multifunctional arena with 22,500 seats, designed for concerts, festivals, esports, and international events
  • A luxury outlet district created with Piuarch Milano and The Mall Firenze team
  • Three hotel concepts offering more than 1,200 total rooms
  • A 50,000-square-meter aqua park with one of Europe’s largest wave pools
  • A full racing circuit built for motorsports, VIP experiences, and media coverage
  • A business accelerator with more than 1,000 workstations dedicated to gaming, creative tech, and AI

This is the kind of destination where families, fans, entrepreneurs, athletes, and artists could all find their niche. It’s rare for a project to blend so many sectors with a unified story, but Dracula Land seems determined to be more than the sum of its parts.

Designed by global leaders

One reason this project is catching international attention is the team behind it. Dracula Land’s concept and master plan were shaped with acclaimed architects, engineers, and business strategists from around the world.

Designers emphasize that this isn’t just a real estate development — it’s a cultural statement. Architecture, technology, and storytelling are meant to function together, creating spaces that feel lived-in and meaningful. For brands and investors, the developers promise stability and a disciplined long-term strategy, something not always guaranteed with mega-projects of this scale.

The digital twin: Dracula Land Metaverse

Here’s where things get even more interesting: the entire resort is being developed parallel to a massive metaverse built in Unreal Engine 5. This isn’t a promotional add-on; it’s a fully integrated digital experience designed to mirror the physical destination.

Features include:

  • DraculaCoin, usable both digitally and on-site
  • NFT-driven ownership and rewards
  • Avatar customization and AI-powered narrative personalization
  • Live synchronization with events happening in the real park

This makes Dracula Land one of the largest “phygital” destination projects ever attempted, and if it works as described, it could set a new standard for how theme parks connect with global audiences.

Economic and cultural impact

The early projections match the project’s grand scale. Dracula Land is expected to create more than 5,000 jobs, generate an estimated €5 billion in economic impact over the next decade, and draw around 3 million visitors annually in its first phase. More importantly, it aims to elevate Romanian culture by giving Dracula’s legendary lore a respectful, modern, internationally appealing home.

Esports Federation president Vlad Marinescu describes it as a cultural and economic engine that will help put Romania firmly on the world tourism map.

If even half of what’s planned makes it across the finish line with the quality being promised, Dracula Land could become one of the most significant entertainment developments in Europe in decades.

For theme park fans, this is definitely one to watch.
