If there’s one theme park tradition that feels like pure magic in a cup, it’s Butterbeer Season.

Every spring, Universal Destinations & Experiences invites fans around the world to raise their frothy mugs inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. What started as a single iconic drink has grown into a full-blown seasonal celebration packed with limited-time desserts, exclusive merchandise and new twists on the butterscotch favorite.

In 2026, Butterbeer Season runs March 1 through May 31 at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Beijing Resort, and April 1 through May 17 at Universal Studios Japan.

Let’s break down what’s brewing this year.

A Global Toast to Butterbeer

With flavors reminiscent of butterscotch and shortbread, Butterbeer has become a must-try rite of passage for any Harry Potter fan. You can sip it cold, frozen, hot, or even non-dairy. Over time, it’s expanded into sweets like Butterbeer Potted Cream, Butterbeer Ice Cream and the Ice Lolly.

But Butterbeer Season is when things level up.

Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood Highlights

Inside The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando, fans can explore Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida, Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure, and the Ministry of Magic at Universal Epic Universe.

This year’s headline debut is the Butterbeer Waffle, available for a limited time at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade and the Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley. If you’ve ever wanted your Butterbeer in breakfast form, this is your moment.

Universal Orlando is also rolling out limited-time treats including:

  • Butterbeer Cupcake
  • Butterbeer Cookie Sandwich
  • Butterbeer Candy Apple
  • Butterbeer Shortbread Bar

These can be found at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley. Over in the Ministry of Magic, Café L’air de la Siréne is offering a Biéraubeurre Crème Brûlée that sounds like it came straight from a wizarding patisserie.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood welcomes back the fan-favorite Butterbeer Cream Puff alongside the new waffle.

And here’s a big milestone for Epic Universe fans: Butterbeer-flavored truffles and macarons will debut during the season and then remain year-round at K. Rammelle in the Ministry of Magic. That’s right. Some Butterbeer magic is here to stay.

Butterbeer Across the Globe

At Universal Beijing Resort, guests can savor a limited-time Butterbeer Cream Puff while exploring Hogsmeade. There’s also a limited-edition Harry Potter 25 Years of Magic Butterbeer Stein arriving this spring, which feels like a collector’s dream.

For the first time ever, Universal Studios Japan will offer a limited-time Butterbeer Cream Puff as part of its seasonal lineup, plus themed merchandise at Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods.

Exclusive Merchandise

Butterbeer Season is not just about what you eat and drink. A new collection of themed merchandise includes a Spirit Jersey, t-shirt, bucket hat and more. You can find these items throughout the Wizarding World lands or online at shopuniversal.com.

It’s the kind of seasonal drop that sells out fast, so if you’re eyeing that Spirit Jersey, don’t wait until the end of May.

Why Butterbeer Season Feels Special

There’s something about walking through Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley with a chilled Butterbeer in hand that instantly transports you into the pages of the books and films. But during Butterbeer Season, the lands feel even more celebratory. More flavors. More photo ops. More reasons to linger a little longer.

For Harry Potter fans and theme park foodies alike, this is one of those limited-time traditions that’s worth planning a visit around.

Now the real question is simple. Are you going waffle, cream puff, or sticking with the classic frozen Butterbeer?
