It’s finally here — our first official glimpse of Nicolas Cage as the dark and brooding hero of Amazon and MGM+’s upcoming Spider-Noir series. Revealed during Amazon’s annual upfront presentation, the first-look image puts Cage front and center in the stylized, noir-inspired suit that promises a very different kind of Spider-Man story.

Based on the cult-favorite Spider-Man Noir comics from Marvel, this new live-action series will take fans back to a shadowy 1930s New York City. Cage plays an aging, world-weary private investigator who once swung through the city as its masked protector but has long since hung up the web-shooters — or so he thought. According to the official synopsis, he’s about to get pulled back into a world of danger, secrets, and unresolved guilt.

The image released (yep, it’s already making the rounds online) hints at the tone perfectly. Trench coat, mask, moody lighting — think detective pulp meets superhero grit. Cage brings an unmistakable edge to the character, and it looks like we’re in for something bold, stylish, and refreshingly different from your usual spandex-and-quips superhero show.

One of the more intriguing production choices? The series will be available to watch in both black-and-white and color — a smart nod to its noir roots that’ll let fans choose how they want to experience the story.

The cast is stacked too. Alongside Cage, we’ve got Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, and Jack Huston, just to name a few. The guest star list is just as packed, with familiar faces like Lukas Haas and Amanda Schull stepping into the gritty world of 1930s crime and capes.

Behind the scenes, the creative pedigree is just as strong. The first two episodes will be directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Killing Eve), with Oren Uziel (The Lost City) and Steve Lightfoot (Marvel’s The Punisher) co-showrunning. And yes — Into the Spider-Verse legends Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal are also executive producers. With this kind of team, expectations are understandably sky-high.

The series is set to premiere in 2026, first on MGM+’s linear channel in the U.S., then globally on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. That’s a big web — and it looks like this noir take on the Spider-verse could be one of the boldest spins yet.

Stay tuned — if this first look is anything to go by, Spider-Noir might just be the next must-watch for superhero fans looking for something with a little more grit and shadow.
