Stranger Things is officially returning to Halloween Horror Nights, and this time it is bringing the final season with it.

Universal announced this afternoon that Stranger Things 5 will come to both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween Horror Nights 2026. The haunted house opens Friday, August 28 in Orlando and Thursday, September 3 in Hollywood.

For Orlando, this is now the third haunted house announced for Halloween Horror Nights 35. The event already started strong with the icon house featuring Jack and Dr. Oddfellow, followed by Sinners bringing a completely different kind of horror with blood, blues, and vampires. Now Stranger Things 5 adds another major title to the lineup and brings the Upside Down back into the mix.

For Hollywood, this is the second haunted house announced so far, following Sinners. That already gives both coasts a pretty interesting start. One house leans into a modern vampire film with a deep atmosphere, while the other brings back one of the biggest pop culture horror stories of the last decade.

This one also feels bigger because it is the season finale house. Stranger Things 5 is the final chapter of the Netflix series, so this is not just another return to Hawkins. This is supposed to be the ultimate battle, and HHN is giving fans the chance to walk right into it.

According to Universal, the house will showcase some of the most gripping moments from the fifth and final season. Guests will find themselves in Hawkins as the barrier between the real world and the supernatural begins to collapse. From there, things are going to get worse fast.

The house will take guests through locations including the Wheeler House, Hawkins National Laboratory, the MAC-Z military base, the Upside Down, and the Abyss. Along the way, guests will be hunted by Demogorgons, other supernatural creatures, and of course, Vecna himself.

That is where this house has a lot of potential. Stranger Things has always worked best when it mixes emotional character moments with big supernatural horror. The kids, the town, the music, the mystery, the monsters, and that 80s atmosphere all play a part in why people love the series. Halloween Horror Nights has already brought Stranger Things to life before, but using the final season gives Universal a chance to make this feel like the biggest version of the house yet.

I really hope this house feels like a true finale. Not just a greatest-hits walk through Stranger Things, but a final battle where everything feels like it is falling apart around us.

I want to see Hawkins in full panic mode.

I want the Wheeler House to feel tense before everything turns upside down.

I want Hawkins National Laboratory to bring back that cold, creepy science experiment feeling.

I want the MAC-Z military base to give the house a larger scale, like the town is no longer hiding from the threat but actively fighting it.

And more than anything, I hope the Upside Down and the Abyss feel massive, dark, and dangerous.

Vecna should not feel like a quick cameo either. If this is the final season house, Vecna needs to be a real presence throughout the maze. He should feel like he is following us, pulling us deeper into the nightmare, and waiting for the right moment to strike.

The Demogorgons are always fun in a haunted house setting, but this is the final chapter. I hope Universal goes beyond the expected scares and gives us some creatures and visuals that feel new to Season 5. Since the house is based on the final season, this could be one of those mazes where fans walk out comparing what they saw inside the house to what they saw on screen.

That is also the tricky part. Since Stranger Things 5 is such a major finale, this house has to balance the hype without feeling like it gives too much away. Fans want big moments, but they also want to experience the season properly. If Universal and Netflix can find that balance, this could be a huge draw for both casual guests and die-hard fans.

Along with the haunted house announcement, Universal also released new limited-release Stranger Things merchandise inspired by the house. The parks exclusive collection includes a t-shirt and mug with that classic 80s nostalgia feel, plus a new Stranger Things-inspired acrylic figure. The figure fits into the separately sold Infernal Carnival collectible display, which will continue to build as more house announcements are revealed.

The new Stranger Things merchandise is available now at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood. It will also launch on shopUniversal.com tomorrow, Thursday, June 18, at 9 a.m. PST.

Update June 18: A closer look at the Stranger Things 5 Halloween Horror Nights merch, including the limited-release t-shirt, mug, and acrylic figure set.

I like that Universal is tying these house announcements into collectible merchandise this year. The Infernal Carnival display idea gives fans something to build as each house gets announced, and Stranger Things is definitely one of those properties where the merch usually gets attention fast.

With Stranger Things 5 joining the lineup, Halloween Horror Nights 2026 is starting to take shape in a big way. Orlando has its first three houses announced with Jack and Dr. Oddfellow, Sinners, and now Stranger Things 5. Hollywood has Sinners and Stranger Things 5. That is already a strong mix of HHN history, modern horror, and major pop culture.

The Upside Down has always been a perfect fit for Halloween Horror Nights, but this year feels different. This is the final season. The final battle. The last stand for Hawkins.

Now we just have to see how terrifying that final chapter becomes when we are the ones walking through it.
