Sometimes the best merchandise discoveries happen when you’re not even looking for them.

I was scrolling through Facebook during my lunch break when something caught my attention. Arkitec had teamed up with Universal Studios for four 3D wooden puzzle sets inspired by Jurassic World, Jaws, Shrek, and How to Train Your Dragon. After watching the announcement, I was immediately hooked.

These aren’t your ordinary puzzles, either. They’re miniature movie worlds that you build yourself, complete with LED lights and motorized action.

Needless to say, all four are heading straight onto my wish list!

What Is Arkitec?

If you haven’t heard of Arkitec before, you’re not alone. Arkitec is a building-puzzle brand from toy manufacturer Maison Battat, offering wooden 3D puzzles that transform individual pieces into miniature scenes, landmarks, and collectible displays.

The brand’s collections include CityVision, featuring recognizable city landmarks, and Miniscape, which focuses on detailed miniature environments and imaginative worlds.

What caught my attention is that these aren’t puzzles you simply put together and eventually pack away. They’re designed to become display pieces, and certain models incorporate LED lighting and motorized movement to make the finished creations even more entertaining.

And that’s where the Universal Studios collaboration gets interesting.

Instead of simply recreating recognizable movie locations, Arkitec brings a little of each film’s personality into the finished build. From the dinosaur-filled world of Jurassic World and the beaches of Amity Island to the fairytale kingdom of Far Far Away and the Viking village of Berk, there’s something here for fans of several beloved franchises.

Four Movie Worlds, Four Miniature Adventures

Arkitec recently shared the Universal Studios collaboration on Instagram, introducing four movie-inspired Miniscape sets. Each one lets fans build a recognizable environment, then bring the scene to life with LED lights and motorized action.

The collection includes Jurassic World (279 pieces), Jaws (236 pieces), Shrek (287 pieces), and How to Train Your Dragon (251 pieces).

All four sets are listed at Walmart for $27.97 each as of November 5, 2026, although prices and availability may change.

Before we dive into the collection, a quick note about Merch Watch.

Merch Watch Disclosure: This article is not sponsored, and I’m not receiving any commission from the Walmart links featured here. I simply came across these puzzles, thought they were pretty awesome, and wanted to share them with fellow fans. I haven’t purchased or tested these sets, and all four are currently on my wish list.

Now, let’s take a closer look at each movie-inspired build!

Welcome back to Jurassic World, where the dinosaurs are spectacular and absolutely nothing could possibly go wrong. This detailed build recreates the famous park gates, Visitor Center, and plenty of prehistoric residents. The Indominus Rex attack adds motorized action, while LED lighting helps bring the park to life. It’s a miniature adventure that captures the excitement and chaos of the films.

Just when you thought it was safe to put another collectible on your shelf! Far Far Away just became a lot closer! This colorful build brings Shrek’s fairytale world to your shelf, complete with his swamp, familiar characters, and the kingdom’s castle. With Dragon taking flight and Fiona’s transformation adding a moving feature, there’s plenty of personality packed into this miniature adventure. Donkey would probably have a few things to say about it, too.

How to Train Your Dragon

Take a trip to the Isle of Berk without worrying about getting roasted by a dragon. This miniature Viking village features familiar buildings, ships, and dragons from the franchise. Motorized ships and an animated Red Death attack add plenty of excitement to the harbor. It’s a fun little tribute to the world of Hiccup and Toothless, and a display that would look right at home alongside other DreamWorks collectibles.

Which One Would I Build First?

Now comes the difficult question. If I were buying one of these sets first, which would it be?

For me, it’s a toss-up between Jaws and Jurassic World.

I’ve always been a huge fan of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World franchise. There’s something about the story, the dinosaurs, and the entire concept of a theme park filled with prehistoric creatures that never gets old. Even when everything goes terribly wrong, it’s still a world I’d love to explore.

Preferably from somewhere the dinosaurs can’t reach me.

That’s what makes the Jurassic World Miniscape so tempting. The famous park gates, the dinosaurs, and the moving details would make an awesome addition to my collection. It’s the kind of display I could see myself enjoying every time I walk past it.

But then there’s Jaws.

Recreating Amity Island with a moving shark attack is just too good to ignore. I love the original film, and there’s something special about merchandise that captures both a classic movie and a piece of Universal’s theme park history. The Jaws attraction may be gone from Universal Studios Florida, but the nostalgia certainly isn’t.

Meanwhile, Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon bring a completely different kind of charm to the collection. Between the colorful world of Far Far Away and the dragons of Berk, both look like fun builds that DreamWorks fans could appreciate.

It’s worth mentioning that these sets are recommended for ages 12 and up. The lighting and movement require two AAA batteries or a USB-C power source, which aren’t included.

I haven’t built any of these yet, so I can’t speak to the assembly experience or how well the moving features work in person. But based on what Arkitec has shared, I’m definitely interested.

And that’s what Merch Watch is all about. Sometimes I come across something cool that I haven’t purchased, built, or reviewed. It simply catches my attention, and I want to share it with others who might enjoy it just as much.

Sometimes all it takes is a little scrolling during a lunch break to discover something you didn’t know you needed.

Now the only question is whether the shark or the dinosaurs will get my money first.
