Poseidon’s Fury, a walk-thru attraction, will permanently close on May 9th in preparation for a new and unknown experience that is coming to the park in the near future..

Poseidon’s Fury debuted in 1999 located in The Lost Continent section of Universal’s Island of Adventure.  It’s a walk-through attraction as park guests travel through the Temple of Poseidon.  Led by an archaeologist guide, park guests explore their way through the ancient ruins before encountering a battle between Poseidon and Lord Darkennon.  This attraction is a walk through attraction with a combination of live-action and special effects.  It was reopened in March 2022 after nearly two-year closure.

The attraction reopened in March of 2022 after a nearly two-year closure. During the closure, the long-running attraction underwent a lengthy refurbishment that including repainting the building’s exterior and refreshing the entrance sign.

In 2018, Universal closed the Eighth Voyage of Sinbad stunt show, one of oldest attractions at Islands of Adventure. The covered amphitheater, located near Poseidon’s Fury has remained closed ever since.  Poseidon’s Fury joined the list of the latest permanently closed attractions at Universal Orlando Resort after Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone was closed in January.  Universal is already making ways to bring “new family entertainment” to the park.

A new Minions-inspired attraction is currently under construction near the front of Universal Studios. Villain-Con Minion Blast is set to open this summer and it will be part of a new Minion Land. The attraction replaces Shrek 4-D, which closed in January of 2022.

Universal Orlando Resort is also building the 4th gate to the brand-new theme park called Epic Universe.  It will feature multiple theme lands including Super Nintendo World.  The park is on track to open in the summer of 2025!

My Thoughts

I will miss Poseidon Fury after going through it several times.  The Water Tunnel and the battle between Poseidon and Lord Darkennon are the two main elements that I really enjoyed on top with the extra touch on the theming throughout the entire attraction.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about with the water tunnel.  Here’s a video clip of it from another YouTuber.

Since Universal and Nintendo are partners with the Super Nintendo World, it would be cool to see Zelda themed land as we are waiting for Epic Universe to open.  What do you think?

If you’re not able to visit Poseidon’s Fury before it closed, check out how awesome this attraction is!
