Families planning a visit to the Alton Towers Resort have something brand new to look forward to this spring. The park has officially revealed the opening date for the world’s first Bluey-themed roller coaster, Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, arriving at CBeebies Land on March 28, 2026.
To celebrate the announcement, the resort created a massive piece of lawn artwork featuring everyone’s favorite Blue Heeler. And this wasn’t just any portrait. The giant image of Bluey was constructed using an impressive 11,494 cans of beans, stretching roughly 20 by 15 meters across the park’s iconic lawn.
The playful tribute references one of the show’s most beloved episodes, “Grannies,” where Bluey and her little sister Bingo dress up as the hilariously mischievous characters Janet and Rita.
In the episode, the sisters shuffle around like elderly grannies, get into trouble, and repeatedly slip on beans. It’s a moment that fans instantly recognize, making the bean can portrait a clever and playful nod to the show’s humor.
According to park leadership, the artwork took about 18 hours to assemble and serves as a fun countdown marker ahead of the coaster’s debut.
Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, shared that the attraction celebrates the energy, imagination, and everyday family moments that make the series so beloved. Using the Grannies theme felt like a natural fit because it’s one of the most popular episodes among fans visiting the park.
A First-of-Its-Kind Ride for Young Families
The new attraction, Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!, will take families on a journey through Bluey’s backyard in a coaster designed specifically for preschoolers and younger children.
The ride draws inspiration from the chaos and silliness of the Grannies characters. Bluey and Bingo, dressed as Janet and Rita, bring their playful energy to the experience as families ride along in a lighthearted adventure filled with fun visuals and storytelling.
This family-friendly coaster expands the growing presence of Bluey inside CBeebies Land, which already features popular character meet-and-greets with Bluey, Bingo, Mum (Chilli), and Dad (Bandit), along with live entertainment in the Big Fun Showtime stage show.
More Bluey Experiences Across the Resort
The excitement around Bluey doesn’t stop with the coaster. The resort is also expanding Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel, giving families another way to extend their adventure beyond the park.
For parents traveling with young kids, this means a fully immersive Bluey getaway where the fun continues long after leaving the rides.
The popularity of the show makes the expansion a natural move. Bluey remains the number one program on CBeebies in the UK and has been streamed more than one billion times on BBC iPlayer since its debut.
The animated series follows Bluey, a lovable and energetic Blue Heeler puppy, who explores everyday life through imaginative play with her sister Bingo and their parents. The show’s humor, relatable family moments, and creativity have turned it into a global hit with both kids and adults.
A New Must-Visit for Bluey Fans
When Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! opens on March 28, families visiting CBeebies Land will be able to experience the world’s first Bluey coaster and step right into the playful world of the show.
Between the new ride, character meet-and-greets, stage shows, and themed hotel rooms, Alton Towers is quickly becoming a dream destination for young Bluey fans.
And if the giant portrait made from thousands of beans is any indication, the countdown to opening day is already filled with the kind of silly fun that Bluey herself would definitely approve of.
