The Dark Knight is back—and this time, the battleground is once again feudal-era Japan. Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, the highly anticipated sequel to the visually striking 2018 anime Batman Ninja, will stream exclusively on Max beginning July 3.

This original anime feature reassembles the powerhouse creative team behind the original, promising a fresh, action-packed chapter that blends Eastern artistry with DC’s most iconic hero. Directors Jumpei Mizusaki and Shinji Takagi, writer Kazuki Nakashima, character designer Takashi Okazaki, and composer Yugo Kanno return, bringing with them a refined and daring visual style. Legendary voice actor Koichi Yamadera reprises his role as Batman, adding familiar intensity to the reimagined character.

In Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, Bruce Wayne is once again pulled from modern-day Gotham into the distant past. But this time, he doesn’t face his usual rogues’ gallery. Instead, he battles the Yakuza League—a dangerous new force formed from twisted versions of his own former allies. Amid feuding clans and honorless warfare, Batman must navigate a deadly landscape ruled by chaos and corruption.

The sequel was first teased at Anime Expo 2024 in Los Angeles, igniting excitement among fans who praised the original for its bold animation, thrilling fight sequences, and genre-defying take on the DC Universe. With its blend of samurai aesthetics, anime stylings, and superhero mythos, the film aims to expand the boundaries of Batman storytelling once again.

Produced by Warner Bros. Japan in collaboration with Kamikaze Douga, the film continues Warner Bros. Discovery’s investment in bold, original anime content for global audiences.

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League is not just another Batman story—it’s a full-throttle journey into a beautifully brutal world where the line between hero and legend is redrawn.

Stream it exclusively on Max starting July 3.
